About us

1. M.M.R.H.S.S. – Origin &development:

It was the ardent desire of Bharath Kesari Mannathu Padmanabhan, the renowned Social Reformer of Kerala and founder of so many schools and Colleges, to have a model residential school also under the Nair Service Society (N.S.S.). By the end of Nineteen Sixties, the mood of the urban parents of Kerala, especially those of Trivandrum, was to have the education of their children in English medium schools. It was in this background, ie, to fulfill the desire of the Samudayacharya and to satisfy the educational needs of the public of Trivandrum that the N.S.S. leadership decided to start an unaided English Medium Residential High School with all modern facilities at Neeramankara near the N.S.S. Women’s College. Since this was the first educational institution established by the N.S.S. after the demise of Samudayacharya Bharath Kesari Mannathu Padmanabhan in February 1970, the School was named MANNAM MEMORIAL RESIDENTIAL HIGH SCHOOL (M.M.R.H.S.). It was formally dedicated to the society at large on 13-09-1971 by the N.S.S. General Secretary. Initially admission was given to Std V and VIII only. The first batch of students from M.M.R.H.S. appeared for the S.S.L.C. Examination in March 1974. Later students were admitted to all classes including pre-primary. With the transfer of Higher Secondary Education from the Colleges to Schools in the State, Higher Secondary Classes were started here in 2002-03 and the school was upgraded as Mannam Memorial Residential Higher Secondary School (M.M.R.H.S.S.). Thanks to the far sighted vision of the Management and the dedicated service of teaching and non-teaching Staff of the School under the able leadership of the Successive Principals starting with Late (Shri) P.R.Viswanathan Nair, in the fields of value based education, discipline, Arts, Sports and games and infrastructure facilities, M.M.R.HS.S. is now one of the foremost schools in Kerala. Here boys and girls get every encouragement to develop their academic skills and inherit talents to new heights. M.M.R.H.S.S. is a unique institution with all the modern facilities of the city along with the peace, tranquility and serenity of the village.
